Let my name remainI sat in the arms of silence
Watching the the capricious wave
And the impassive stretch of shore
As the sea continued to rave
Thoughtlessly I ran my finger
On that moist surface of land
And unknowingly wrote my name
Among the grains of golden sand.
Too short a life, my name had
Too small was its day
For soon the waves came
And washed my name away
I wonder if each time I write
On the sands of time, my name
Do the waves come there too
To erase it all again?
But in the folds of someone's mind,
In their forgotten memory lane
And that one special heart,
Waves, let my name remain.
